The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.
We are very keen to restart the club in January 2021, but due to Covid-19 restrictions we will have to use Zoom for our meetings. We hope that we can resume “normal” meetings as soon as possible, but there is no guarantee of this, so our 2021 Syllabus will be a rolling one, and under constant review as restrictions hopefully improve.
We will arrange three different types of meeting:
One is a chance for members to show digital images, and other members constructively comment on the images. This type of meeting has been popular in the past as it gives members a chance to see images and offer constructive comments and discussions, and has improved understanding and built confidence in our members.
The second type of meeting is for a selection of PDI to be shown to someone from outside of the club, and they could comment on them. This would not be a full competition, so the images would not be scored out of 20 points. The guest could choose a “favourite” image or images, and give their reasons. This would be conducted like a "themed" competition, where there is no Advanced / Intermediate / Club Level status, and the topics of the 2020 Theme competitions could be used. Any image used by members during these virtual meetings can be reused in club competition once we return to actual meetings. This could be an advantage as it gives the members to chance to receive constructive comments which may be implemented before the image is later submitted to a “normal” competition.
The third type of meeting is a zoom presentation by a guest speaker. Zoom allows for each member to see the guest’s computer screen, so we can all see images as they form part of the lecture.
