The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

Bolton Camera Club member Brian White is holding an exhibition of 40 of his superb prints at Waterstones bookshop at 32-36 Deansgate, Bolton BL1 1BL from Sunday September 16 until Saturday October 20 2018. The prints will be displayed on the walls of the staircase within Waterstones.

The theme of this exhibition is '30 Years of Wildlife and Travel Photography through Africa'  During the past 30 years Brian has spent over a year of his life travelling and photographing in various countries in Africa.

Brian hopes this public display will create interest in his prints, and promote the illustrated talks he gives.

We thank the Manager and staff at Waterstone's Bookshop for their continuing support and allowing us to display the prints for this exhibition.

We hope you will enjoy this print exhibition, and for any further information Brian can be contacted by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The topic at our Open Night on Thursday 7 September was “Light Painting”, and we divided the members present into two groups to experiment with the light painting tools we purchased.

All our extensive kit was bought from Light Painting Brushes, and we all had great fun on the night. Our results we not in the same league as those on the Light Painting Brushes website, but we are only just beginning! We took turns in being the “model” and being the one using the light painting equipment in a variety of creative ways, as well as actually taking the slow shutter speed photographs.

We plan on a repeat evening while the evenings are still dark, as all present enjoyed the experience and several members expressed an interest in developing this creative photography further. In the meantime for futher inspiration and ideas please look at our suppliers website at

We thank our members have been willing to have their work published on this website, and these examples can be seen below.

It is with sadness that we record the death of our Honorary Member, Geoff Davies, on 17th February 2015. Geoff had been a long standing member of the Bolton Camera Club serving in various capacities, including President. His street and candid photography was of the highest standard and much admired. Geoff held successful exhibitions in Yorkshire and Bolton, the latter being opened in January 2014 by ex-Guardian photographer Denis Thorpe, who is also an admirer of Geoff's work.

The pictures below show Geoff at the opening of his Bolton exhibition and also some examples of his work.

A video showing some of Geoff's work can also be viewed on You Tube at the following link:-
