The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

The Bolton Camera Club decided last year that it would award a grant to a final year student of photography at Bolton University to help them develop their photography and to engender stronger links with the Camera Club. After viewing the students' exhibition in Manchester, and considering written submissions, the selection team consisting of Ray Jefferson, Adrian Drummond Hill and Gus Sivyer, the Picture Editor of the Bolton News, awarded the grant to Rob Langley.

Rob retired after a career as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language at Salford University and is now seeking to concentrate on a number of photographic projects with a view to exhibiting his work and publishing in specialist magazines. Rob’s main photographic interest falls within the ‘street photography’ genre, especially focussing on marginalised or under-represented people in society, and those discriminated against for one reason or another.

Although Rob first picked up a camera when he was a teenager, he has only recently been able to devote himself properly to photography by funding himself through University. Previously his life has been rich and varied, travelling or working in over 60 countries, being proficient in five or more languages, playing music in several bands, as well as teaching English as a Foreign Language in both Turkey and England.

Rob will be coming to the Camera Club on 7th May 2015 to introduce his latest project called 'Sitting' and to discuss photography generally with Club members.
