On Thursday 27 July we welcomed back Graham Currey from South Manchester CC to judge our Themed Competition on “Places of Worship.”
Graham was presented with the 32 prints first, and after a run through he gave his insightful comments and scores. He held back nine prints, which he said were all outstanding prints, and after due deliberation awarded top scores to four prints: “Victoria Hall Methodist Church” by Ken Tebay, “Galway Cathedral Alter and Screen” by David Hawkins, “St Marks Church, Worsley” by John Morris and “Calling the Earth to Witness” by Eric Grindle.
“Victoria Hall Methodist Church” by Ken Tebay
Graham said they were all very worthy winners, but he would put them in that order, with “Victoria Hall Methodist Church” receiving an extra point if that was possible.
“Galway Cathedral Alter and Screen” by David Hawkins “St Marks Church, Worsley” by John Morris
“Calling the Earth to Witness” by Eric Grindle
After the break we had a run through of the 60 PDI, and then Graham gave more very good helpful comments and observations, keeping back 14 images. He gave the full 20 points to three images, which were: “Mr and Mrs at St Oswald’s Church Cheshire” by Phil Durkin, “Whitby Abbey” by Keith Atkinson and “Church of the Graffiti” by Jeff Griffiths.

Our thanks go to Graham for his judging and giving us all the benefit of his honest opinions and very helpful comments.

In our Themed Competitions to date this year only 10 club points separate the top 12 members, with only two rounds to go!
