Informal club competitions

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

Our annual holiday fun competition took place on Thursday 29 November 2012 with 6 prints and 18 projected images. All the images were of a humorous nature and taken while members were on holiday – the idea of this competition is to see amusing images and relive a moment from earlier in the year.

The prints were shown first to members, and the authors were invited to talk about their print or the circumstances behind it. A show of hands to vote for the best one resulted in “I’d Give It Five Minutes” by Ray Jefferson being declared the best print.

The PDI were then projected and again the authors were invited to talk about their image. A show of hands to vote took place and the best PDI was deemed to be “Bath-time Catastrophe” by Pat Hartley.

As Pat’s image scored my votes than Ray’s image, “Bath-time Catastrophe” was declared the overall winner.

Many of the stories with the images were very funny and a very enjoyable evening was had by all present.

Next year this competition will still seek amusing and funny images, but will not be restricted just to holiday moments.
