Club Trophies

The Bolton Camera Club meets weekly throughout most of the year and gives a very warm welcome to visitors and new members. We have been sharing a passion for photography since 1884 and are more than happy to share with you, whether your interest is in film or digital, audio visual or more technical aspects of photography.

On Thursday 5th February 2015 at our Annual Presentation Night we were honoured to welcome Garth Tighe to present the trophies. Garth is not only the Vice President of the L&CPU but also the Archive Secretary, and is an active member of Hyde PS.

This year in addition to the winners receiving a trophy, they were also presented with a Certificate, and we celebrated the members who came second and third with Certificates

The Shield is awarded to the Advanced Member who won the Monthly Projected Image Competition. Garth presented this award to Richard Towell.

A Certificate was presented to Phil Durkin for second place, and to Blake Wardle for third place.

The Morris Trophy is awarded to the Beginner member who won the Monthly Projected Image Competition. The winner, Ian Walker, was absent tonight and will be presented with this trophy and Certificate at a later date.

Certificates were presented to Don Isherwood for second place, and to Alan Bromiley for third place.

The Schofield Trophy is awarded to the Advanced Member who won the Monthly Print Competition. Garth presented this award to Richard Towell.

David Hawkins was absent tonight and will be presented with a Certificate for second place at a later date, and Garth presented a Certificate to third placed Adrian Drummond-Hill.

The Lindeth Trophy is awarded to the Beginner Member who won the Monthly Print Competition. Garth presented this award to Alan Bromiley.

Certificates were presented to Eric Grindle for second place, and to Neil Pilkington for third place.

The Roy Williamson Trophy is awarded to the club member for winning the Themed Competition. This competition includes both prints and projected digital images and does not differentiate between beginners or advanced members. Garth presented this trophy to Richard Towell.

David Hawkins was absent tonight and will be presented with a Certificate for second place at a later date, and Garth presented a Certificate to third placed Nina Thomasson.

The Russell Trophy is awarded to the member who had the best print in our Annual exhibition. For 2014 this was again held in Waterstones Bookshop in Bolton, and was judges by Tilman Kleinhans ARPS EFIAP DPAGB from St Helens Camera Club. Garth presented this trophy to Peter Thomasson.

Certificates were presented to Eric Grindle for second place, and to Richard Towell for third place

The David Farrell Trophy is for the best images taken on a club Day Out. This competition was held on 8th January, and Garth presented this trophy to winner Alan Bromiley.

The Dennis Cup is for the member who won the Audio Visual competition. This is held over two rounds during the year, and the scores from each round added together. This time there was a tie for first place, so the trophy will be shared. Garth presented this trophy to Jeff Griffiths and Richard Towell.

Ray Jefferson was absent tonight and will be presented with a Certificate for third place at a later date.

The Coronation Cup is presented to the winner of the Best PDI from our internal monthly PDI competitions. Prior to the presentation night we had put all the images onto a CD and sent it to Garth to view and judge, which he very kindly did. He short listed the images to 20 by a knockout process over several rounds, and then further reduced them to 12 images. These final images were shown on the night and Garth gave his reasons as to why they made it to the final. He held three back, and then announced his first, second and third. The Coronation Cup was presented to Richard Towell, with Blake Wardle coming second and Richard Towell in third place. As this took place live on the night, the cup will be engraved accordingly and certificates and presented in due course.

Garth rounded off the presentation ceremony by giving a brief lecture about the L&CPU competitions and PAGB awards process, illustrated by his own prints for his recent successful CPAGB award for photographic merit.

We are very grateful for Garths assistance during this presentation evening and for his help in judging and giving his comments on our images for the Coronation Cup, and thank him for his assistance during this presentation evening.

We congratulate our winners and runners up, and a big “Thank You” to all our members who took part in the various competitions. It is heartening to see an increase of images being submitted by our new members, and we look forward to another year of superb images from our members.
